Wow!  What great fun the BSS National Upland Field Trial was.  Again, Bill and his crew did an outstanding job with everything.  The venue was a new one and I don’t think he can better this one.  The food was sumptuous, warm hugs from old friends were unbeatable, and as usual, watching so many Boykins doing what they love most brought both smiles and goose bumps. What a happy bunch of dogs!

Our club had a great showing and did quite well.  We are bowing to the “king”, Butch Herb, who ran 2 of his 3 Boykins in Open.  Stoney finished 1st, Pelham finished 2nd, and was Gunner’s Choice!  You just can’t do any better than that and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication on Butch’s part.  Congratulations to ALL the Boykins running Open.  It was a tough class.

Members running Intermediate also had success.  Brian Espy and Georgia came in 3rd. Susan Ladd and Bubba, and Tony Harvill and Maggie May earned JAMs and Maggie May was also was Gunner’s Choice!  Again, everyone running was a winner…congratulations.

The enthusiasm in Novice Class was unbeatable.  Brian Espy came through for MidSouth  in this class also, finishing 4th with Georgia, and handling Rose to a JAM.  Caleb Jackson and Silas won Gunner’s Choice, and we also had great runs for Completions from Amelia Skipper and Deja, Anne Livingston and Deb,  Dee Davis and June Bug, Chris Mauer and Magic Tonic! And it WAS a magic tonic for everyone running and watching.  Can’t wait till next year!

The Retriever Field Trial will be held in April.  Some of you were fortunate  to take your LBDs  hunting but the rest of us took a short break and are now back in the swing of teaching straight lines.  If last year’s Trial is any indication, we have a lot of work/fun ahead of us and want to see more of our club there to help keep the standards high.  Our Boykins just keep getting better and better and the tests keep getting harder and harder.  Shhhh, don’t tell the judges we are training.

Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and the MidSouth Boykin Spaniel website for upcoming information.  We’d love to have you join us!
