The Difference Between Teriyaki and Barbecue Jerky

What is the real difference between teriyaki jerky and barbecue jerky? Well, not much actually. However,I have read a lot about both of these dishes in many books and on many web sites, but there are some big differences between the two. The main difference between teriyaki and barbecued jerky is that teriyaki is marinated while barbecued jerky has been cooked on a barbecue grill.

Teriyaki is not marinated at all. It is usually made from a mixture of rice and Japanese sweet soy sauce and is then cooked in a hot frying pan. When you add in the sweeteners to marinade your jerky in,you will see why it is called teriyaki. When you get the sweet sauce added,it brings out the flavors in your jerky. In addition, the sweet sauce helps to tenderize the meat so that it is more tender when you are making jerky. As you can see, there is a huge difference in the way these dishes are prepared and the way they taste.

So,when you make jerky, whether it is called teriyaki or barbecue, you are adding marinade to the meat, cooking it on the grill, and adding sweet sauce to help tenderize the jerky. So,when you make teriyaki, you are cooking the jerky on the grill and marinating it in the marinade. When you make jerky on a barbecue, you are cooking the jerky on a barbecued barbeque grill and adding the sweet sauce to the jerky. Therefore, there really is no significant difference between teriyaki and barbecued jerky.
